This summer, we're making it a steam shop tradition to keep up the momentum. Locomotive 576: ‘Finish line in sight’ in restoration of historic Nashville steam engine

This past Friday, Nashville Steam reached a true milestone in the restoration of No. 576. After nearly 65 years of lying in repose, the locomotive showed the first sign of life. Months of work from our volunteers, and a large wrecker, finally freed up the wheels and running gear, allowing the locomotive to roll back a few feet. An unforgettable sight! Thanks to a donation from the @tenn_valley_rr, we’re pleased to welcome a former Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis tender to the roster. This tender will increase the water-carrying capacity of the locomotive for longer trips, greatly streamlining watering logistics while the engine operates in excursion service. This tender once belonged to an NC&STL Mikado-type locomotive and survived under ownership by Louisville & Nashville in maintenance-of-way service. | Nashville Steam
