You can tell this is a juvenile Great Grey Owl by the tail feathers… they come to a point and show lighter or whitish tips, unlike the squared, evenly banded tail of an adult. This is actually the same young owl I photographed about two months ago. Back then he was still calling for food and being fed by his father. Now he’s fully independent. I watched him successfully hunt and catch two voles in less than an hour. Incredible progress in just a few weeks. #greatgreyowl . . . Sony A1ii | Sony FE
