US Army 5240 is a privately owned two foot gauge tank engine built by the Davenport Locomotive Works in 1918. Originally built to be sent over to Europe to work on the trench railways, the locomotive never left the US, having only been completed months prior to the conclusion of WWI. Instead, the locomotive served stateside for several years on US Army bases before entering private ownership.
