A 37-year-old Gauteng mathematics teacher has been arrested for allegedly raping a pupil, provincial education MEC Matome Chiloane said.

According to GDE spokesperson Steve Mabona, the allegations came to light after the learner's mother formally reported the matter to the school's principal on 2 March 2026.
